Carr, one the oldest women physicians in the State died yesterday at her home 811 East 23rd Street, Paterson. She was 81 years old. Dr. Carr began her medical career 52 years ago after graduation from the New York Homeopathic College and Hospital for Women. In the early days she made the rounds of her patients by bicycle. She is survived by a brother, William, and a sister, Miss Ella Carr, both of Paterson. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30. CARR PASSES; WOMAN PHYSICIAN Paterson Woman One Of First Of Sex To Practice In Jersey (Special to the Bergen Record) Paterson, May 18—Dr. Ada Carr, 81, one of the first women physicians in New Jersey, died yesterday at her home 811 East Twenty-third Street, this city, after an illness several days. Dr. Carr, who had practiced here for 52 years was active in her profession until the time of her death. She was born in this city, the daughter of the late Adam and Sarah E. Carr and was graduated from the New York Homeopathic College and Hospital for Women in 1852. It was recalled that in the days before the automobile age, Dr. Carr rode a bicycle when calling on her patients. Besides her professionona1 duties, Dr. Carr took an active part in the social and civic affairs of the community. She was a charter member of the old Market Street Method1sts Episcopal Church and for fifteen years president of the Church's Women's Foreign Missionary Society. She was one of the pioneer members and officers of the Paterson Y.W.C.A. and had been affiliated recently with the Wesley Methodist Episcopal Church. Other organizations which she belonged include the Paterson Business and Professional Woman's Club, the New Jersey Women’s Homeopathic Society, the National Homeopathic Society, Women’s Homeopath, the League of New Jersey and the Institute Fraternity of Women Physicians and the Alumnae Society of the New York Homeopathic Colleg (sic) and Hospital for Women. Besides her sister, Miss Ella Carr, twelve nieces, twelve nephews and thirteen grandnieces and grandnephews survive. Funeral Services will be conducted at her home tomorrow afternoon, by the Rev. Benjamin Dickisson of the Wesley Church followed by interment in Cedar Lawn Cemetery.
