Dozier, James: - Eldest son of Leonard Dozier
Dozier, James: - Eldest son of Leonard Dozier
    Record
Descendants of James Dozier of eldest son of Leonard Dozier of Lunenburg Co., VA.
"Written by Mrs L.E. Wooldridge of Columbus, Ga.
The [un-named] book from which was copied was by James Clement Wooldridge of [place not specified]

"My great, great grandfather, Leonard Dozier as born in France (mistaken HCD) in 1710, married in Lunenburg Co., Va, in 1733 Died in that County in Va. in 1785.
"We do not know the (sir) name of his wife. (Ann Gayle-HCD) His son James S. Dozier was born in Lunenburg, Co. Va. in 1739, married Mary Dunwoody of Virginia in 1762. He was a Soldier of the Revolution from Virginia. His children were born in Virginia (2-HCD) Their names are..."

RJCarr: This copy was made in 1997 from a copy in the Georgia Archives. It is horribly organized and sequenced. In order to better trace the various lineages, I subsequently penciled in alpha-numeric notations. So, the circled-1 indicates Leonard Dozier was the first generation and circled-2 was his son, James. Then, James' children became A thru H. The children of Rev Richard Dozier (annotated F) were then identified I thru Q (see top of page #2). Those alpha identifiers were carried thru the remainder of the document. Subsequent generations were labeled numerically - and wives were also numbered, e.g., F1, F2, F3 (on page #1 and #2). This non-standard identification was used because the generations/individuals were not entered in a age-sequence and, an individual could be found again on non-sequential pages, e.g., Leonard Wesley Dozier (annotated C on page 8), Dunwoody Dozier (annotated D on page 9) and James S. Dozier (annotated circle-2 found at the bottom of page 11. I concluded that HCD in the original are the initials of a Dozier family member who added comments - despite indications that the document was "Written by Mrs. L. E. Wooldridge of Columbus, Ga." To complicate resolving the HCD notation is the entry at the bottom of page 11: "Lovie Dozier Wooldridge - 85 yeas old - is writing this at Dr. James Clements Wooldridge's home at Columbus, Ga. Mch 20, 1925."

RJCarr, 20 April 2020: The HCD notation was resolved. The attached copy of the "Record" had portions of two lines not copy. The first full sentence on page 1 should have read: "The book from which was copied was lent to Henrietta C. Dozier by James Clement Wooldridge of Columbus, Ga." So, HCD are the initials of Henrietta C. Dozier.
