    Link to Google MapsObituary - J. Warren Chapman Sr. FAIR LAWN — J. Warren Chapman Sr. died Monday, Feb. 28, at The Valley Hospital, Ridgewood Born in Newark and raised and educated in Paterson, he lived in Fair Lawn for 36 years. A graduate of Paterson State Teachers College and Columbia University, Mr Chapman was a teacher in the Elmwood Park Public School system for many years, retiring several years ago. In the early 1930s, he sang on radio stations WODA, Paterson, and WHN, New York City. He was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Army and served in South Pacific with the Bobcat Taskforce. Mr. Chapman also served with Company No. 1158 Combat Engineers and was its company commander in Europe. Mr. Chapman was a parishioner of St. Anne’s R.C. Church, Fair Lawn, where he was an honor guard and a member at its Holy Name Society. He was former commander of St. Anne’s Catholic War Veterans, Council No. 1076 and was a member of VFW Post No 281 of Fair Lawn, Mr. Chapman also was a member of the New Jersey Retired Teachers Association. He was associated for many years with the Fair Lawn Recreation Department and its youth center and memorial pool. Surviving are his wife, the former Kathleen White; a son, Joseph W. Jr. of Wyckoff; two daughters, Kathleen Wolf and Patricia Arthur, both of Fair Lawn; two sisters, Florence M. of Fair Lawn and Mrs. Helen Matthews of Ridgewood; and seven grandchildren. Arrangements are by John J. Feeney & Sons, 232 Franklin Ave., Ridgewood.
