I am looking for information regarding Adam Carr.He was born approximately 1831 in Forfarshire, Scotland(according to family tradition). He had arrived in Paterson, NJ by 1850 as he was listed in the census with a James Carr.He stayed in Paterson for the rest of his life.According to the 1870 census, he had 4 children:Ada(b. 1852), William(b. 1855), Ella(b. 1863), Henry(b. 1865).
According to family tradition his name had been Kerr before he immigrated, his father's name was Adam Kerr as well, and his mother's maiden name was McFarland.
      Thanks for the help.

    Carr, James: 1842 Immigration pg2
James Carr (38) and his wife Agnes (49) are shown arriving from Scotland with two sons: Adam (11) and William (5). James's occupation was listed as barber. James would variously spell his name as Kerr and Carr. (See midway down the passenger list. Note the unrelated child "born on the passage" on the last line. It appears that the child was named for the ship on which they were sailing: Medora Cassilly. The parents were near the top of the same page.
