Hugh Meehan
Spring Lake—AP—Hugh Meehan, 82, former president of the New Jersey Retail Liquor Dealers Association, and the father of Thomas F. Meehan, assistant Hudson County counsel, died yesterday at the home of another son, Dr. George E. Meehan, 400 Sussex Ave. Meehan was a real estate broker in Jersey City where he made his home and was head of the Central Brewing Company of New York, Central Cigar Company of New York. and the Central Wine & Liquor Company of New York. He was one time president of the Liquor Dealers of America. He was a native of County Caven, Ireland. Surviving, besides the two sons, are another son John J. Meehan, assistant corporation counsel of Jersey City; and two daughters. Miss Maude Meehan, Jersey City teacher, and Mrs. John A. Coleman, wife of the president of the board of directors of the New York Stock Exchange.

HUGH MEEHAN
Funeral Services were held last Saturday morning from St. Catherine's Church for the late Hugh Meehan, when a solemn high Mass was celebrated by the Rt. Rev. Thomas U. Reilly, pastor. Mr. Meehan died suddenly last Thursday from a heart attack. He was 82 years old and was former president of the Liquor Dealers of America and former state president of the New Jersey Retail Liquor Dealers Association. He lived at 400 Sussex avenue. Born in County Caven, Ireland, Mr. Meehan also was in the real estate business and the cigar business at different times. He was formerly head of the Central Brewing Company, the Central Wine and Liquor Company, and the Central Cigar Company, all of New York. At the time of his death he had retired from active business. Surviving are three sons: Thomas F. Meehan, assistant county counsel of Hudson county; Dr. George E. Meehan of Spring Lake, with whom he lived, and John J. Meehan, assistant corporation counsel of Jersey City, and two daughters, Mrs. John A. Coleman, wife of the chairman of the board of governors of the New York Stock Exchange and head of the Catholic Charities of New York, and Miss Maude C. Meehan of Jersey City.
