Carr, Louis Drury: 1918 ASTC-P6

Louis enlisted in the NYU Army Student Training Corps (ASTC) on 01 October 1918 and was honorably discharged on December 19. Many WWI records were destroyed in the 12 July 1973 fire at the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis. In the following years the veteran's records would be reconstituted using auxiliary records - Louis's records were reconstituted using the NYU payroll records. He is one of 16 privates on the linked payroll. He was recorded receiving #42.60 in pay for the period to include $6.40 for a Quartermaster allotment - possibly for the return of unused books, equipment or clothing. The story of the short-lived SATC is worth researching - its duration was not much longer than the period of Louis's enlistment.
