    Notes
    • Alice was separated from her husband James Martin for undocumented reasons and their daughter, Mary Elizabeth Martin, never would/could clarify the marital dissolution. The wedding band that Alice wore is in the possession of Mary Elizabeth (Martin) Carr's granddaughter, Jacqueline Stockdale. The initials of James and Alice are inscribed on the inside. Following their separation, Alice went to live with her sister Catherine (Katie) and brother-in-law Peter Walsh. When Katie died in childbirth in 1913, Alice (Aunt Al to all the children) continued to live with Peter.

Link to Google MapsCensus - Alice (Kelly) Martin was shown living at 304 Delaware Avenue, Olyphant, PA with her widowed brother-in-law, Peter L. Walsh. She was employed in the home - according to the census enumerator - as a servant. Peter's wife, Catherine (Kelly) Walsh, died in April 1912. Although the census indicates Alice was widowed, it was believed that she had long been separated (circa 1899) from her husband James Martin. She was thought to have begun living with Peter shortly after her younger sister, Catherine, died. Alice's daughter, Mary Elizabeth Martin, would have been 23 during the census enumeration and might have been employed as a school teacher and no longer living at home. She has not been found on a 1920 census. - 16 JAN 1920 - Olyphant, Lackawanna, Pennsylvania, USA Find all individuals with events at this location Link to Google Earth
