William Seward Carr and Miss Elizabeth E. Donnelly, both 25 years of age, were married on 20 October, 1880 at 4 P.M. in what appears to read the Donnelly residence in Paterson (Broadway), NJ. Although, family records reflect the location as 431 Broadway which maps to the modern location of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. William was employed as a mechanic when they were married. The parents were listed as Adam Carr & Sarah E. Tier and Arthur M. Donnelly & Amelia M. Drury. Of the four parents, only Sarah was born in the US. The others were born in Scotland, Ireland or England. The witnesses appear to read S.F. Watson and Amelia Donnelly. The name of the minister is not entirely legible but it appears he was from Paterson, NJ. Elizabeth's middle initial "E" may have been in error - her middle name was Amanda.

Iroquois, 1920 From The American Presidency Project: "After thorough discussion at the meeting of the Cabinet, and because it is felt that there is no reason for withholding the following facts from the public, this information is given out: Yesterday the head of the German Navy, Grand Admiral Raeder, officially informed the American Government, through the United States Naval Attache in Berlin, that according to information on which he relied, an American ship, the Iroquois, is to be sunk when it nears our American east coast. The sinking of the Iroquois, Admiral Raeder said, would be accomplished through a repetition of circumstances which marked the loss of the steamship Athenia. The S.S. Iroquois, formerly in our coastwise trade, was chartered by the Maritime Commission recently to go to Ireland to bring back Americans who had been caught in Europe at the outbreak of the war. The Iroquois sailed from Ireland on October second with a full list of American passengers. This was the chief tenor of the official note sent to us by the head of the German Navy. As a purely precautionary measure, a Coast Guard vessel and several Navy ships from the patrol will meet the Iroquois at sea and will accompany her to an American port. Furthermore, the Captain of the Iroquois has been informed of this official note from the German Admiralty and has been asked to make careful search for any possible explosives on board his ship. The whole of this information has also been conveyed to the British and French Admiralties."

	Carr, Clara Ashe: 1920: Manifest from MacOris Dr. Samuel L and Clara Ashe (Carr) Stallard were manifested aboard the SS Iroquois en route to New York, NY from Macoris, R.D. The cruise lasted from March 18, 1920 to March 21st. It likely was the return leg of their honeymoon and would prove years later to be his second marriage. His first wife, Ollie Mae Roberts, had been left in Virginia with one child. [In 2007 Clara's urn was found in a Utah home and was returned to the Carr line in 2011. That story is elsewhere on this website.]
	Stallard, Samuel L: 1920 S.S. Iroquois Crew Manifest Samuel was manifested on the S.S. Iroquois with his second wife, Clara Ashe (Carr). They were sailing back to New York from a presumed honeymoon in Macoris, Dominican Republic. Their home address was 811 23rd Street, Paterson, NJ - not far from her aunts Ada and Ella.

Stallard, Clara Ashe (Carr): 2011 - A Postmortem
Clara's cremated remains were discovered in 2008 by the occupant of a home in Orem, Utah. That find enabled Clara to be returned to her family - even if the details of how she got lost in the first place remain but a guess. The story at the link is the result of collaboration by two researchers on opposite sides of her marriage.
