    Personal Notes of Interest
Edith Tier Carr, daughter of Mrs. William S. Carr, who is well known here for her charity work, was married last Tuesday in Fort Bliss, Texas, to Lieutenant Clarence Schenck, of the Seventh cavalry, whom Miss Carr nursed back to health when he recently fell a victim of influenza. An associate nurse of Miss Carr at Fort Bliss, Miss Josephine Hunt, at the same time became the bride of another lieutenant stationed there. Mrs. Schenck, in a letter to her mother, told of the double romance, but gave few details. Mrs. Carr was surprised at the news, for, although she knew of her daughter’s engagement, she was not aware that a date had been set for the ceremony. Miss Carr, who was a graduate nurse of the City hospital, enlisted as an army nurse soon after the declaration of war, but was not given an assignment until last June. She was sent to Fort Bliss. Here also was stationed Lieutenant Schenck, of the Seventh cavalry (regulars), a Wyoming ranchman. They did not meet, however, until the lieutenant was taken to the hospital, an influenza patient. They became fast friends. When Lieutenant Schenck recovered he often met the young Paterson woman. As a result of this his companion, a lieutenant in the same regiment, met Miss Hunt, of Los Angeles, Miss Carr's room-mate. The two couples were married on the same day. The couples were attendants for each other. Lieutenant and Mrs. Schenck have a temporary home in El Paso, Texas. It is said that when they are mustered out of the service they will live on the young lieutenant's ranch.
